Why wear toe socks with barefoot shoes

Why wear toe socks with barefoot shoes?

A foot in a toe sock functions much better than in a "normal" sock.
A toe sock allows the toes in the shoe to function individually, which brings several benefits crucial for our health. / The individual movement of the toes is fundamental for the foot and has several important benefits for our health.
  • The arches of the foot – both longitudinal and transverse – work better.
  • The entire foot, calf muscles, knee muscles, and pelvic floor function better and are strengthened more.
  • The foot warms up better.
  • More blood circulates in it (not only in the foot but also in the calf).
  • The foot has better sensation; the toes can separate and react better to the surface.
  • Fewer calluses form – on the big toes, little toes, in the area of the transverse arch, and also in the heel area.

Socks are silent killers of our foot's functionality!

"Not infrequently, a child comes to me for therapy, wearing beautiful Barefoot shoes, but when they take them off, I see that they cannot fully utilize them due to restrictive socks.

Then they take off their socks, and their toes might even be crossed over each other." 🤞🏻😬 Matyáš Kozma, natural movement instructor, co-founder of Realfoot

Beware! The compression caused by socks is not felt by our body for a very long time.

It's like sitting in a car or at a computer. You sit down, and at first, nothing hurts... you don't feel any discomfort. You might even feel good in a new chair or seat. But after a few hours or even years, you perceive it differently. It's exactly the same with the foot and socks. The constriction of the toes, the restriction of sideways movement, doesn't bother us at first. Why should it? The foot is very flexible and adapts very easily. But when you wear your toes constricted like this for weeks, years, or even decades, it takes its toll, even in places you might not expect.

Choose freedom for your toes! Give them toe socks! ✌🏻🙂
